Fence Pro Tips: ARE YOU ON THE FENCE ABOUT GETTING A FENCE by Tish
The yard is looking fantastic. The house is neatly painted. And the inside is clean and tidied just the way you like it. You go out to sit on your cozy back or front porch area and become instantly turned off by the sight of that old, dry rotted fence that is coming apart or worse the fence is lying on the ground. Your property exterior is just perfect, but now it is time to fix that fence. The first decision you have to make is what kind of fence that you want to have installed.
There are a few factors that will determine what type of fence you get. One thing to decide is do I want privacy from Mr. Nosy Next Door? Or do I just want to keep the animals in. Being that I am a fence expert I’ll give you a breakdown on the types of fence and little info to help you choose which one to install. Fences are broke down into 2 categories; privacy and non privacy.
First are the privacy fences, which include vinyl fence, board on board wood and stockade wood fence. These fences both offer six foot height which gives your yard total privacy. Privacy fences are not easily to climb across which adds security to your property. The main difference between the two is the cost. Wood fence is a lot less expensive and lasts for about ten to twelve years. The wood that is used is pine, cypress or cedar the one you choose depends on your climate area. But after the first few years the wood starts to change color and the pickets may warp. Vinyl fence is an excellent choice due to the fact that the white fence you put up will always be white and beautiful as long as you have it. Vinyl fence holds up strong and you never have to maintenance it. The bad thing about it is that the materials can be expensive. But if you get the right company, who installs the fence right, you will save tons of money in the long run, because you’ll never have to replace a dry rotted post or warped and discolored picket. Next is non privacy fence.
Non privacy fence includes shadowbox wood fence, chain link fence and aluminum fence. Shadowbox Fences are made of wood and has all the same issues as every wood fence. The difference between shadow box and board on board is that the pickets are spaced on both sides that make a gap between the fence pickets that allow people to see through it. It also stands six foot high so you won’t have to worry about it being climbed over. Chain link is mostly used for security because it encloses any and all types of areas. Chain link is either galvanized or vinyl coated. The vinyl coated chain link has more appeal as it comes in three different colors. Chain link fences vary in height. Last of all is the aluminum fence. It is a more expensive non privacy fence. Aluminum is more decorative and stylish. It also comes in different colors and heights. Both the chain link and aluminum has a long time span lasting 20 years or more.
Now here comes the big question of all “Am I going to do it myself or hire a professional to install it”. Fences as easy as they look standing there are a bit more technical when it comes to actually installing one. You might say “how hard is it to dig a hole”. It’s very simple I will agree. But after the fifth hole your burning shoulders will tell you the difference. It would be best to let a professional install it so you don’t have to worry about a snaky fence lines, encroaching a neighbors’ property or cutting dangerous underground utility wires. Also, a licensed professional has the knowledge to comply with permitting and other local ordinances.

He built it in Wapping, where he lived and named it “the Lower School”.It opened in 1719. “The Lower School”, was designed to provide an education for fifty boys and fifty girls between the ages of 8 and 18 years. They would learn “the three Rs”, which were reading, writing and arithmetic. Girls however were also taught to sew and to cook, and Boys were also made to shovel coal underground for the school’s heating, and to scrub the floors.This was done in between periods. In 1736 Henry built and set aside money for a boarding school which would take on forty girls from the Lower School.
