Genie is a top name in the garage operations industry. If you’re looking for a Genie garage door opener remote, consider these options.

You probably use your garage remote nearly every day. It’s supremely convenient and simple. You’re pulling up to your home, click a button, and then pull into your garage. You avoid walking in the elements and are merely steps away from your entry. But, when a remote is broken or lost and you must purchase a new one, you may be surprised at how inconvenient and not-so-simple this can be.

Number of Buttons

You’ve been clicking that button to open your garage door for as long as you can remember. Now, you’re presented with one, two, three, and even four button options. You assume you need just one, but what are they all for?

The primary reason for multiple buttons is obviously multiple doors. So, if you have a three car garage with two doors, you’ll probably want a two button remote.

Another reason may be if you have electronic gates and wish to have all access on one remote.

Attachment Options

Similar to other remotes or transceivers in your home (think cordless phones and baby monitors) the remote and the receiver must operate on the same frequency.

If you have the owner’s manual to your garage, it will tell you right there, and you’re done. If you have a Genie garage door opener, then most remote models will be compatible. But, if you have an older garage or if you are not sure of the manufacturer, then you’ll have to do a bit of investigating. The easiest way is most likely to just consult someone in the know. Whether it’s a superior customer service representative at a reliable online retailer of garage parts or your local handyman, they can likely point you in the right direction.

Bottom line? There’s a lot of choices in garage remotes available. Boil it down to the basic needs, narrow your choices and shop prices. You’ll be back to your normal routine easily and affordably.
