Attributes To Keep In Mind When Buying Cheap Ferret Cages

Pet lovers are aware that they need proper supplies in order to take care of them properly. In case of ferrets this includes the need to provide them with a suitable cage. It is also worth noting that sometimes the price is not an indication of the quality. There are various rather cheap ferret cages for sale which are suitable for your pets. The key is to be aware of some aspects.

Most of the cages you will find for sale are relatively smallish. This is mainly due to safety aspects, because every pet likes to wander around. Hence it is important that you try to let your pet out of the cage at least for a few minutes per day and let it wander around under your supervision.

The ideal ferret cage should be about 3 feet long by 2 feet wide and a height of not less than 2 feet for each ferret in the cage. Cages having a wire floor makes it easier to keep their living quarters clean at the risk of having their feet caught.

Hence, it is important that if you choose such a cage you make sure that at least you place a cloth over it. You could also use a place mat. This will keep your pet safe, as well as providing it with warmth in cold days and nights, and a comfier base.

Another good alternative to cloth would be to use a bottom made up plastic. However, a word of caution here. They are deadly harmful to ferrets if they are not strong enough as ferrets like to nibble and chew. If however a suitable plastic bottom is found, it would be just as easy to maintain in a clean state as cloth bedding.

Ferrets are typically playful and like to wander around. Hence it is important that the cage is laid out in such a way that they are safe and it cannot fall a substantial height and risk hurting itself. If it drops more than a foot it can be risky. So you need to make sure that you consider the cage’s height. Additionally it is very important that the lock of the cage is robust, and that there is no chance that the ferret can manage to open it and get out of the cage.

Placing a litter box in the cage for ferrets is also a good idea so as to enhance cleanliness inside the cage. Try to take these factors into account when looking for a ferret cage so as to make a good selection for your sweet little pet.
